About the Exhibition

Texas Art House is pleased to present a solo exhibition of McKay Otto’s current work which introduces a new series of luminous sculptures ‘ever know ever’. Otto continues to develop and explore his examination of the dimensional relationships that exist between drawing, painting, and sculpture. His work frees the two-dimensionality in painting creating art which goes beyond physicality. As the artist states – “This work serves as a vehicle for us to look inside and find the innermost echoes that pierce through us. It may serve as a metaphor for humanity’s capacity to transcend itself.”

Artist Statement

My life is my work, and I prefer to work in silence without interruption. The stillness and solitude reassures an intimacy with my art. I encounter a growth every time I create. Within the experience of working, an inner life is summoned and evokes mysterious feelings that compel me to tell the truth at all costs.

Light travels through the vast cosmos of space, seeking for infinity. There is a beauty in the journey of light, and this pursuit speaks to the connection of the human spirit and condition. The tenacity to follow a new illuminated vision is like that of having a major psychoanalytic breakthrough. If we left our eyes to the mercy of time and light, the changing reflections give way to evidence beyond what we initially see or comprehend. We are afforded time to pause and reflect on any notions of meaning in the natural and intellectual worlds. From these recesses, we find that truth is not of this material world.

The tuned edges create a magical glow when light pierces through the surface of the work and the hearts and minds of the viewers. The reflections accesses the future of our dreams, creating a sacred space that connects us at the level of the soul. This work serves as a vehicle for us to look inside and access the innermost echoes that pierces through us. The shadows that form come through, like a memory from beyond, communicating and ringing across time and space, waiting to have a second view.
